The Brewster Ladies’ Library has a new telescope

Patrons can now check out a telescope at the Brewster Ladies’ Library.

The telescope will only go out to patrons 18 years of age or older, who fill out a Library Telescope Lending Agreement form at the library. The telescope goes out for 1 week. Patrons need to bring a Driver’s License and a CLAMS card to check out the telescope.

Patrons will check out:

  • Telescope and 2 lens caps
  • Eyepiece (in the focuser) on the side of the optical tube assembly
  • EZ-Finder and battery pack (on the top of the telescope optical tube assembly). This projects an LED light, not a laser.
  • Pouch (with 3 items inside:1-laminated user guide,  2-Audubon Constellation Guide, and 3-Headlight)

This telescope can only be checked out and returned to the main circulation desk at the Brewster Ladies’ Library. It can never be returned in the book drop or at any other library.

The telescope was funded by the Gertrude Pomeroy Foundation, and will be maintained by the Aldrich Astronomical Society, Inc. as part of their Library Telescope Program.
